Steiff Autumn / Winter 2007 collection, will be announced.......

...on the 20th August officially.

Here is a glimpse at what is to come.

STEIFF announced their Autumn range at the Harrogate Trade Fair. Steff and I were there to see the new collection and place our orders.

There were some wonderful pieces on offer such as......

A new Paddington with the pale blue coat as seen in the TV series.



A new series called "The Little Giants" (50cms). Starting with a Teddy Baby in a pale blue colour.

Joining the Catalogue Bear is an Andy Warhol style bear with brightly coloured Pictures of Margarete Steiff. (similar to the Mariliyn poster below)


Next in the Beatrix Potter series is 'Pigling Bland'


Next in the Rupert series will be 'Edward Trunk'

Steiff - Black Jackie - Million Hugs USA Events.....

....Designed especially for the "Million Hugs" 2007 North American Event Season, Steiff is proud to present Black Jackie! Standing 10 inches, Black Jackie is made from genuine jet-black mohair with breathtaking blue eyes -an all new color combination! This handsome bear wears a silver bow and features subtle airbrushing on his grey paw pads. Delicate airbrushing of the famous belly-button completes this special piece.



The Jackie design was first introduced in 1953 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Teddy bear. The round shape, playful smile, and airbrushed belly button set it apart from any other Steiff design. 2007 marks the centennial of the "Year of the Teddy Bear," in which Steiff manufactured one million Teddy bears in Giengen/Brenz, Germany. In celebration, the Jackie design, which collector's have adored for over half a century, has been recreated to mark yet another special anniversary for Steiff!

Black Jackie is available exclusively at the 2007 "Million Hugs" events! and now with help from our friends in the states, available through Apple Pie House.

Happy Birthday, America! - On July 4, 1776......

America was born.




The United States is truly a diverse nation made up of dynamic people.

Each year on July 4, Americans celebrate their freedom and independence with barbecues, picnics, and family gatherings.

Time for the history bit.......

Betsy Ross and the American Flag



The first flag representing the United States was sanctioned by George Washington using colors from The British Kings Colours. It was called the Grand Union flag. Soon, it was decided that a new flag was needed to represent America, and it was decided to be red, white, and blue, with stars and stripes representing the colonies. It is said that George Washington, Robert Morris, and George Ross (Betsy Ross's late husbands uncle) came to Ross's home and asked her to sew the new flag. Originally, George Washington had wanted 6-pointed stars on the flag, but Betsy Ross demonstrated how to cut a 5-pointed star in a single snip, and the committee was so impressed that they allowed Betsy Ross to sew our new American flag, using the 5-pointed star.

For 2007 our 10th Anniversary, we are pleased and excited to announce the addition of Appley Dapply ™ as an Apple Pie House shop exclusive to the R John Wright highly-acclaimed Beatrix Potter™ Collection.

This whimsical mouse character made her appearance in Beatrix Potter's charming book of verses titled "Appley Dapply's Nursery Rhymes." Ideas for Appley Dapply's Nursery Rhymes had been in Beatrix Potter's mind for many years before the book was eventually published.
Time and again other stories were chosen instead and the project was laid aside.
Finally, Beatrix revived Appley Dapply in response to her publisher Frederick Warne's request for a new book in 1917.
The book was unusual in that it featured a series of rhymes which Beatrix wrote herself over a number of years.
