Mr. McGregor's Garden >The R. John Wright Expo 2006 Special Event......

We were so excited, Steff and I were able to attend, the second annual R. John Wright-sponsored Special Event:

"Mr. McGregor's Garden."

The date was August 19th at the historic Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, Washington, D.C. during the annual DOLL & TEDDY BEAR EXPO.
Mr. McGregor's Garden was a ticketed themed luncheon event limited to just 100 attendees.

Guests presenting their special tickets entered the hall with gaily decorated tables where each place setting included an exclusive felt Carrot Napkin Ring.




A sumptuous luncheon buffet extended along one side of the room and consisted of fresh garden salads, delicious hot and cold dishes, and savory soups!

John and Susan Wright greeted their guests and invited them to partake of the luncheon buffet.

Following the meal, assisted by daughter, Lillian Wright, an entertaining audio/visual program showed the beautiful Lake District in England, Beatrix Potter's Hilltop home, and a charming retelling of the Tale of Peter Rabbit.

Following the program, the moment everyone had been waiting for: guests were permitted to open their souvenir boxes to reveal an exclusive RJW original "Peter Rabbit in the Gooseberry Net."

Small enough to hold in the palm of a hand, Peter is made of the finest mohair plush and is fully jointed.
He has hand-embroidered features, delicate airbrushed coloring, and glass eyes.
He is outfitted in his blue felt jacket with tiny custom-made brass buttons.
Just as in the Beatrix Potter illustrations, his buttons are snagged on the cotton gooseberry net which also contains a clump of handmade felt gooseberries.
Made in an edition limited to 250 pieces, this is the smallest RJW Beatrix Potter edition ever produced!
Included is a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity and the forms for owner registration.




A companion piece named "Mr. McGregor's Garden" was on display at the event as the stunning table centerpieces.
Made entirely of molded and handpainted felt, several of the vegetables actually pull out of the 'ground'!
An authentic handcarved wood garden "dibber" planting tool is topped by an adorable mohair Robin with glass eyes, felt feet, and a jointed neck. This is a unique piece which is also limited to just 250 pieces worldwide.

Christmas in July by R John Wright, Cool down with an.....

.....Ice Cool SnowBaby and Companion piece SnowBear.




This year the first IDEX mid-year show was held at the Rio Suites and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada from June 30th to July 2nd.

The show celebrated the newest doll and teddy bear releases from leading artists and manufacturers from around the world. During the show, there was also a ticketed R. John Wright luncheon event titled "Christmas in July" which took place on July 1st from noon to 2 pm.
On the day of the luncheon event, guests entered the hall which was elegantly decorated for the Christmas season.
Each table featured a petite snow-bedecked Christmas tree around which were festive gold packages tied with red felt bows containing the event souvenirs!
Susan and John Wright greeted their guests and invited them to partake of the sumptuous Holiday buffet.
Following the meal, a professional troup of Carolers dressed in authentic Victorian costumes serenaded the gathering with a spirited a'capella performance of well-loved Holiday standards.
At the conclusion of the performance the crowd was asked to join in a final rousing medley.
Following this program drawings were held and valuable door prizes were awarded to several lucky attendees. Then the moment everyone had been waiting for - the opening of the event souvenir: a delightful "Snowbaby" creation made entirely of felt and dressed for wintertime fun!

Fully jointed with delicately hand painted features and rosy cheeks, this first R. John Wright Snowbaby measures 6 3/4" standing and is outfitted in a sparkling plush snowsuit and hat with tiny mittens dangling from the sleeves!




The companion piece for Snowbaby is a darling original RJW "Snowbear" measuring just 6" tall.
Fully jointed and constructed of sparkley mohair/wool plush, Snowbear features felt paw pads and a unique molded felt face with hand painted detail and inset clear crystal pupil eyes.
Snowbear comes with his very own custom-made handcrafted wooden sled!

The delightful Snowbear with sled will be produced in an extremely limited edition of just 100 pieces. Each will come enclosed in a custom RJW presentation box with red felt ribbon.
Included will be the signed and numbered certificate of authenticity
